May is National Elder Law Awareness Month

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys has declared May to be National Elder Law Awareness Month. The 31-day event is meant not only to recognize elder law attorneys across the country, but also to promote awareness and education regarding the areas in which elder law attorneys assist their clients. It’s a chance for more and more people to learn about the unique issues faced by families of elderly adults in planning for the next stage of their lives and trying to help them live with dignity. With a growing population of Americans age 65 years or older and projected to double to 71.5 million by 2030, the importance of planning for one’s legal needs has become essential.

Events like Elder Law Awareness Month help educate seniors and their families about their legal options, including long term care planning, Medicaid, veteran benefits, and estate planning.

Elder Law is a specialized area of law that involves representing, counseling and assisting seniors, people with disabilities and their families in connection with a variety of legal issues, with a primary emphasis on promoting the highest quality of life for individuals. For more than a decade, attorney Chris Bratton has been helping clients in our community and their families plan for long term care needs and help protect hard-earned assets.

As part of National Elder Law Awareness Month in May, seminars and workshops will be held across the country, including New Jersey, in an effort to spark further discussion on the various issues in elder law. Please join us for a special expert panel on June 24th from 6:30pm-8:00pm and hear elder law attorney Chris Bratton and others discuss Comprehensive Planning Panel on Health, Money and Legal. The event will be held at Virtua Barry Brown Education Center in Voorhees, NJ. For more information please email Jamie.bratton@rothamelbratton.com
